When he was nine years old, Dr. Gelfand broke two of his front teeth. Initially he thought they were ruined forever. That thought was soon replaced by his amazement at how quickly his dentist had him back to normal. This incident made a lasting impression. And today, one of the things Dr. Gelfand finds most gratifying about his work is making patients feel like he did when he was nine years old.
What Dr. Gelfand finds most gratifying about his work is making patients feel like he did when he was nine years old.
Dr. Gelfand is the general dentist at Gentle Dental, and like Dr. Ilyabaev, he too has grown up around the profession as his mother is also a dentist. Growing older, he found himself drawn to the idea of becoming a dentist himself, and after working as a dental assistant at his mother’s practice, he entered Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Dr.Gelfand completed the Advanced general dentist training program at the North Shore-LIJ health system.
Dr. Gelfand is a tech fan and the latest technology in dentistry, like lasers and other state-of-the-art instruments, appeal to him because he loves to discover ways to make procedures easier on patients. When he’s not focussed on dentistry, he’s probably watching a Knicks game.
